"Other then that, Mrs. Lincoln, did you enjoy the play?"...
That's what Bravo's match rating reminded me of, Jeremy.
Every bit of good work he did before the stupid, unnecessary PK - on a 3rd string winger in stoppage time - was undone. No way is that competent from a veteran player.
I'll bet it did his remaining time here much more damage, too. Totally undermines any case he can possibly make for being the preferred option in the future at LB over a rookie...
Yeah, Bravo got beat twice on that play - first out wide, then on the cut back in the box and he ran into him. Bravo is so aggressive, but you can't be the negative type of aggressive in the box - you have to be careful and not clumsy (also, see Antony - what on earth?!). I see a lot about how Smith wasn't playing that well. I'm not sure about that. He did get a yellow card, so maybe that is why Phil pulled him. Regardless, you can see he is very good for a rook, and I have no problem with him as the second option.
Your last sentence on Smith makes all the sense in the world, Left...
He got thoroughly schooled by the prototype 'wily vet' on Sunday; that's gonna happen at times when Phil rolls the dice with some of our young guys this year.
I'm confident he'll learn (plenty) from it and bounce back even better...
Our first goal was a thing of beauty - and that was a pass in the box. Da Costa is really good in that area. We are such a good transition team that we get our shots off before defenses set up. We're scoring some really nice goals, so winning ugly, that's in the eye of the beholder, and I see some beautiful soccer. Antony's cross in to Kelsy, that was nice, too, and a really great near post finish.
Yes, totally agree. I thought before the game that a win cements that this is a legit team, and that a loss or a draw and it would mean there are question marks. No question marks for me on this team.
