This is something that bothers me and I'm glad you brought it up. Way too many times, we rely on a player making something out of nothing. Antony will get the ball and everyone just freezes and stand. No one is running, no one is moving, no one is trying to create space.

Antony: MLS stats has him for seven assists, and you have him for five?

Phil was talking after the game about potentially adding two forwards for the next game, but that would mean a change in formation. I wouldn't change anything because it would probably mess up Antony, and why mess with a one man wrecking crew?

It's pretty obvious that Ortiz is not up to par with the rest of the team, and that Paredes or chara should start. If Pantemis gives that ball to Ayala, I don't think he would have trouble with it. If you're not ready for the ball, then what does that say about you? There was some time and space, and even if he one timed it out of there, nobody would have cared that much.

That's not even my beef with Ortiz. His positioning is really out there, literally. Check out the goal or any time St. Louis generated a shot on the highlight reel. He is out wider than Mosquera and leaves the midfield wide open. He did this at least twice. I think his fitness is a little suspect as well. He also has a tendency to get turned really easy. He's a paper weight and often plays defense with his hands. This is what I am seeing right now. Who knows what he will be like next year or by the end of the year. Maybe he will be ok. Paredes or Chara offer more resistance. We were noticeably better in the second half the last 35 minutes or so with Paredes helping out. That guy looks like he could run a marathon and still show up for the soccer game and play. He looks super fit for a guy who doesn't play a ton. Credit to him for keeping his head in the game while he waits for coach to call his number.
